Resources for authors submitting titles:
Title registration form (Word) - to be filled in and submitted to the editorial base by potential contributors who wish to register a review with the group. Any prospective review authors submitting a form will need to indicate that they have read the roles and responsibilities document (see below).
Declaration of roles and responsibilities (pdf) - outlines processes and standards for editorial base staff and Cochrane review authors. Also outlines the editorial procedure of the group.
Resources for authors developing protocols:
Brief User Guide for Archie and RevMan 5 (pdf) - provides an introduction to the information management system (IMS) for Cochrane review authors, and how review authors should access work.
Search methods guide (pdf) - produced by our Trials Search Coordinator and outlines the process of developing a search strategy with a worked example.
Protocol checklist (pdf) - outlines guidance for formatting and completing information on the protocol.
Resources for authors developing reviews after publication of a protocol, or updating existing reviews:
Introductory guide to updating Cochrane reviews (pdf) - short guide to considerations relating to updating Cochrane reviews. Advice on technical, methodological and authorship issues is provided.
Template characteristics extraction form (Word) - can be used by review authors for collecting information on the characteristics of studies they have included in a review, and information likely to be of relevance in assessing the risk of bias.
Template data extraction form (Excel) - can be used by review authors for extracting numerical outcome data from included studies for entry in Review Manager software.
Translation sheet (Word) - structured form for summarising the methods and results of studies published in languages other than English.
Review checklist (pdf) - gives information on the details required to be reported in the review including updating, formatting, contact details, references and appendices. This should be used by review authors prior to submitting their full reviews for editorial review and publication.
